Vocational Training Centre

This project provides non-formal education that combines and incorporates training for livelihood skills into literacy instruction.

The literacy and numeracy content is developed from the livelihood and income generation training and based on a participatory action learning approach with a bottom-up strategy. Since inception the project has directly benefited 300 students and indirectly another 1800 secondary beneficiaries.

vocational The project is supported by the existing Doses of Hope microfinance scheme. Each graduate becomes eligible for a loan to purchase the requisite tool kit or to start his/her income generating activity. It is expected that the combination of the microfinance scheme with functional adult literacy training will boost both the project’s output and set standards for a good concept that works well.
